  27. Single-click the title of a Get Info window to display the hierarchical pathway to the file associated with that Get Info window. You do not need to double-click, as stated in Figure 3-7.

  31. The following changes have been made to the ALERT! Options dialog (see Figure 1-4):

  33. •    The option group title “Special Effects” has been added.
  34. •    The option group title “Search Type” has been changed to “Show.”
  35. •    “Sound” has been changed to “Use sound.”
  36. •    “Zoom Windows” has been changed to “Zoom open windows.”
  37. •    “Alert! Windows Animation” has been changed to “Animate graphics.”

  39. The following options have been added to the ALERT! Options dialog:

  41. •    “Show alpha, beta, development versions” – Checking this option (the default) tells ALERT! to list files that are alpha, beta, or development versions, respectively, in the Problem List. Uncheck this option if you do not want ALERT! to display such files.
  42. •    “Show software not properly installed” – Checking this option (the default) tells ALERT! to display files that are not properly installed in the Problem List. Uncheck this item if you do not want ALERT! to display such files.

  45. YOUR MACINTOSH WON’T BOOT?

  48. If you’re running System 7 and an extension conflict prevents you from booting your Mac, press and hold the shift key as you power up until you see the message “Extensions off.” Once the desktop appears, run Alert! to find and resolve the conflict.

  50. If your Macintosh will not even boot with extensions disabled, you might try testing your computer with SNOOPER, MAXA's hardware diagnostic utility.
